MAINTENANCE ADVISE:

Having taken the time and effort to choose the best hair extensions, correct aftercare is equally as important. NiiYii Hair is pure human hair, therefore to get the best out of it it must be treated with the same care you would give to hair growing from your scalp.

To achieve this we have put together a guide that will benefit both your extensions and your own hair. By following these points, you can significantly increase the lifespan of your hair extensions.

BRUSHING

The correct brush is vital for the maintenance of your hair extensions as it will help you avoid unnecessary breakage and ensure your hair is at its most optimal for as long as possible, avoiding the need for early replacements.

When brushing your hair, the aim is to cause as little tension / friction at the root as possible. Regardless of brush type, it is always recommended that hair is sectioned and then the hair is held mid-length as the ends are brushed, gradually working up the hair until the roots are reached.

Wet brushing

For wet brushing we recommend our weave brush (link to our product page with said brush).  When hair is wet it is at its most fragile state and prone to snapping, so it’s essential that a non-greasy leave-in conditioner is applied such as Uniq1 (link to our product page with said product).  The weave brush will detangle hair with the least amount of tension and breakage. 

Dry brushing

For dry brushing we would advise spending a few minutes each day to ensure your hair is detangled, especially first thing in the morning and just before bed. Ideally the weave brush is the best tool if there are any tangles.  Additionally, a good quality paddle brush is recommended such as the Moroccanoil paddle brush (link to our product page with said brush) or the Denman paddle brush (link to our product page with said brush)

BLOW DRYING

For blow drying we would advise using a paddle brush such as the Moroccanoil paddle brush (link to our product page with said brush) or the Denman paddle brush (link to our product page with said brush)

WASHING

We would recommend that you do not wash your hair for at least 5 days after any application service. This will allow the hair to settle and ensure the maximum amount of wear.  Washing guidelines differ slightly depending on the application technique used, however it is essential that all extensions are brushed thoroughly before any washing commences otherwise any knots or tangles left will worsen with water / shampoo / conditioner. Ideally use a good quality detangling / moisturising shampoo  and conditioner.  It is our recommendation to avoid products with sulphates, believed to destroy hair follicles and inhibit hair growth and parabens, linked to dermatitis and rosacea.  Always wash your hair immediately after swimming.

SLEEPING

Our first rule and probably the most important when it comes to sleep is, DO NOT sleep with wet hair! Please ensure your hair is dry before going to sleep as damp or wet hair before bed is a nightmare and can cause severe tangles.

Always brush your extensions before you go to sleep every night. This will help remove any tangles and product build up from the day.

It is best to plait or Braid your hair then cover with a scarf or bonnet before bed as this will help keep hair away from your face and prevent it from moving around while you’re asleep.  This will make sleeping more comfortable and provide you with easier to brush hair in the mornings.

MAINTENANCE APPOITMENTS

Hair can grow by approximately 1/2 inch a month, meaning hair extensions will begin to move further away from the scalp as your own hair naturally grows. It is therefore recommended that hair extensions are regularly maintained to ensure they’re kept in optimum condition.  However tempting it may be to keep them for longer periods, the condition of your own hair and scalp should be top priority.  Extensions that are left for extended periods can cause / lead to hair loss, severe tangling and scalp irritation.

We recommend appointments every 4-6 weeks as this will ensure your hair extensions maintain their natural and healthy look. 

SEWN WEFTS

A weft is a piece of fabric that holds collected hair strands in place, it is commonly used as semi permanent extensions and each application can last up to 9 weeks. It can be sewn or beaded into your natural hair or wrapped around your own ponytail and secured with hairpins. Sewn wefts can be washed at the same frequency you would wash your own natural hair. Shampoos and conditioners can be applied to the roots as they will not significantly loosen the weft. Hair and scalp treatments can also be applied to sewn wefts. It must be noted that frequent washing will loosen the plaits

CLIP IN HAIR

Clip in hair should always be removed before washing.  It can then be washed as described above with diluted shampoo and conditioner, rinsed, towel dried and then left to dry naturally before blow drying and styling.

CLOSURES

Made with the finest lace for a seamless pre-plucked hairline resulting in an undetectable finish. Our 5"x5" closures are 130% density using 100% virgin remy cuticle hair, that can be dyed to your desired colour. These closures are suitable for both sew-in weaves and constructing wigs. All hair comes in natural black (1B) as they come directly from our sourced hair donors with no chemical processing.

The straight and curly textures are a match for our Deluxe and Funmihair. The kinky closure matches our Kinky Straight hair.

FRONTALS

Made with the finest lace for a seamless pre-plucked hairline resulting in an undetectable finish. Our 13"x4" frontals are 130% density using 100% virgin remy cuticle hair, that can be dyed to your desired colour. These frontals are suitable for both sew-in weaves and constructing wigs. All hair comes in natural black (1B) as they come directly from our sourced hair donors with no chemical processing.

SEW IN APPLICATION (6-12 weeks)

Also known as a weave, this popular application can be worn by all hair types and allows you to style your hair up or down.  Your natural hair is partially or fully braided and the weft extension is sewn onto the braids.
